FTS is currently seeking qualified Electrical Controls Engineers for an industry leading client in the engineering manufacturing space for a contract to hire position in Houston, TX. It is expected that candidates would research, develop, design and test electrical components and systems.
Develop complete electrical control system architecture including PLC programming, selection of manufactured electrical equipment, instrumentation, and sizing and integration of Variable Speed Drives.
Design, develop, and supervise all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery.
Demonstrate of knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within field of marine.
Conduct the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software.
Manage electrical engineering department including mentor-ship, recruitment, and talent acquisition to expand overall capacity of the department while ensuring the utmost quality and integrity.
Develop processes for best practices to be instituted within the company quality procedures, specific to the electrical engineering department.
Assist with allocation, budgeting, resource planning, and scheduling of complex projects.
Source electrical components and electrical equipment integrator for all relevant industries.
Design and direct engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determine methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.
Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
Direct and coordinate the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
Review contracted designs and provide suggestions for design improvement.
Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
Provide sustaining engineering support to operations, technical support, application development, and sales and marketing for design related issues with existing products.
Additional responsibilities and authorities include schematic capture, electrical component selection, layout supervision, coordinating product regulatory certification, and product release documentation.
Support and participate in the organization s continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 and understand the implications of not complying with the quality management system.
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field the candidate must be Allen Bradley PLC Program Certified.
Experience with PLC programming in relevant industry fields.
Experience with design and manufacture of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
Minimum of Five (5) years of experience as the lead engineer or engineering manager for commercial projects.

Proven experience in generating, designing, and executing concepts into manufacturable products and systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in managing more complex projects from concept to completion.
Proven experience with lab test equipment (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes) and the development of test fixtures and processes for newly designed systems.
Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment a plus.
