Job Description

Morgan City, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Fitter Foreman to supervise and coordinate all field and shop fitting activities ensuring all safety procedures are followed during fitting activities and operations. This Fitter Foreman will guarantee all assigned employees are performing their duties as directed and in accordance with contract/job specifications.

  • Instruct and train fitters to work safely and efficiently and to follow established fitting methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Coordinate fitting projects with Yard Superintendent and other foremen then schedules and directs fitting crews in the performance of assigned activities.
  • Maintain continuous communications with Chief Lofts man regarding fabrication methods and measurements for each project.
  • Recommend improvements in fitting methods and procedures to increase safety and efficiency.
  • Supervise the inspections of all applicable fitting equipment each day to ensure safety and proper working conditions. Reports and all irregularities.
  • Manage and maintain the designated area of the yard assigned.
  • Work with Project Superintendent and Operations Manager to ensure that Tasks and Goals are being achieved to support Schedule and budget.
  • Provide input to the Project Superintendent concerning job/material costs, manpower hours, and all other issues that may affect the job s PF.
  • Document completion and control, to include Progress Sheets, discipline, timesheets, charge numbers.
  • Promote safety and confirm that all employees and subcontractors follow the safety requirements, to include the necessary use of PPE.
  • Discipline employees for violations to Company/Departmental policy to include safety infractions and performance.
  • Hold the employees accountable for the established goals and check their progress to those goals on a frequent basis.
  • Assist Operations Manager in determining manpower and manpower placement.
  • Inform staff of expectations and provide clear and consistent direction.
  • Assist in determining project physical progress and project cost projections.

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass background check.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have 5 to 10 years experience in shipyard management.
  • Standing is a requirement of this job function.
  • Walking is a requirement of this job function.
  • Turning, twisting, bending, and stooping is a requirement of this job function.
  • Pushing and Pulling is a requirement of this job function.
  • Reaching, forward and reaching overhead is a requirement of this job function.
  • Climbing is a requirement of this job function.
  • Balancing, feeling, talking hearing, and seeing are all considered normal physical duties necessary/required to work in this industrial environment in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
  • Highschool diploma or GED.
