Job Description

FTS is seeking a General Manager for the Marine Manufacturing industry in the New Orleans area.

Summary
The General Manager directs and coordinates activities of the departments such as engineering, human resources, finance, production, planning, project management, and the supply chain in formulating and administering organization policies by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers. He or she is responsible for profit and loss of the activities undertaken.

  • Leads the development of the budget and strategic planning.
  • Establishes the business operational tempo required to support reporting and performance goals established by leadership.
  • Must be highly safety conscious.
  • Participates in formulating and administering company policies. They direct and coordinate, in collaboration with functional leaders, all divisional department activities to achieve division goals and objectives in safety, quality, financial performance and people.
  • Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives.
  • Reviews with the Managing Director required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.
  • Develops, reviews, updates and implements business strategic planning, including sales, financial performance and new product development.
  • Reviews operations and plans to meet requirements for sales planning and to ascertain manufacturing or outsourcing requirements to develop new markets.
  • Reviews and approves preparation of accounting analysis for budgetary planning and implementation, production efficiency, financial reporting, budgetary planning and submittal for capital expenditures.

Travel
  • Periodic continental and international travel are expected with this position.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have demonstrated P&L leadership in a technical business greater than $25M annual revenues.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required
  • Familiarity with blueprints and drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor s Degree or equivalent

Language Ability
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This role is responsible for daily supervision of a team of managers, supervisors and administrative personnel.
