The Logistics Associate is responsible for the accurate, efficient, organized, and safe receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely dispatch of goods. He or she shall ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the building and stock. He or she shall ensure productivity targets are met and maintain computerized administration and automated storage and retrieval systems.
The Logistics Associate is expected to be courteous, professional, and firm with both customer representatives, vendors, and SIT employees in applying business objectives, bearing in mind scheduling priorities based on acquisition concerns.
Specific responsibilities and authorities may include:
Shipping and Receiving of Materials
  • Pick-up and deliver shipments, ensuring that material is delivered and unloaded safely and undamaged.
  • Design and build crates/skids for shipment of equipment, cut wood to specific measurements, work with hand and power tools
  • Prepare shipping documents and labels, as needed
  • Process all incoming and outgoing shipments and documentation according to procedures.
  • Photograph all outgoing loads and ensure they are saved those photos to the shared drive.
  • Photograph any suspect incoming loads before unloading.
  • Label and Package outbound component sale items according to customer requirements.
  • Photograph all outbound material as evidence of correct count and kind and adequate packaging.
  • Record damage of incoming material on Bill of Lading and photograph.
  • Unload, receive, and determine required inspection plan for incoming material.
  • Perform Level 1 inspection (3-way check) as well as, expedite any other applicable inspections.
  • Record receipt of goods in P21 as required

  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
  • Mark/Tag all material to indicate status: Accepted, Rejected, QA hold, In Process, Customer Property, Job numbers, and Heat Numbers.
  • Insure that no items are removed from inventory area without a pick ticket.
  • Communicate with Logistics Manager in regards to any job material that is found to be damaged or missing
  • Complete weekly cycle counts.
  • Maintain shipping and receiving and inventory areas for cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Maintain inventory to indicate: Accepted, Rejected, QA hold, In Process, Customer Property, Job numbers, and Heat Numbers.
  • Oversee the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
  • Clean and maintain all warehouse equipment.
  • Perform daily inspections of forklift equipment as applicable.
  • Complete vehicle log as required. Save the record on the shared drive at S:\Purchasing\Shipping and Receiving\SIT Trip Log\2017. An additional copy will be sent to the HSE Manager of SIT and the Corporate Operations Manager of EOHI.
  • Perform general building maintenance (change light bulbs, paint, move/assemble furniture, etc.).
  • Fulfill objectives and directions from the Contracts Administrator, Shop Forman, and Client Services Representative.
  • Ensuring the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment.
  • Support and participate in the organization s continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 and understand the implications of not complying with the quality management system.

    • Demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to the quality management system by:
      • taking accountability for the effectiveness of the quality management system;
      • ensuring that the quality policy and quality objectives are established for the quality management system and are compatible with the context and strategic direction of the organization;
      • ensuring the integration of the quality management system requirements into the organization s business processes;
      • promoting the use of the process approach and risk-based thinking;
      • ensuring that the resources needed for the quality management system are available;
      • communicating the importance of effective quality management and of conforming to the quality management system requirements;
      • ensuring that the quality management system achieves its intended results;
      • engaging, directing and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system;
      • promoting improvement;
      • supporting other relevant management roles to demonstrate their leadership as it applies to their areas of responsibility.

This position shall assign the responsibility and authority for:

    • ensuring that the quality management system conforms to the requirements of this International Standard;
    • ensuring that the processes are delivering their intended outputs;
    • reporting on the performance of the quality management system and on opportunities for improvement in particular to top management;
    • ensuring the promotion of customer focus throughout the organization;
    • ensuring that the integrity of the quality management system is maintained when changes to the quality management system are planned and implemented.
