Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Purchasing Agent works closely with multiple departments including Sales, Manufacturing, and Account Services. Experience in purchasing, inventory management, and strong estimation skills in manufacturing is a must.
Responsible for utilizing all available resources including system software, vendor input, sales information and customer projections to assure the following: availability of inventory, lowest possible merchandise cost in conjunction with lowest total purchasing cost, maximum inventory turns, and assurance of quality.
  • Evaluate and Procure all raw materials and finished goods to support manufacturing and client demand
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with Suppliers
  • Submit accurate and detailed customer/order requirements to Suppliers to assure quality
  • Analyze price proposals and other data to determine reasonable prices
  • Evaluate and implement product and raw material increases
  • Work with management on pricing, estimation and cost of products, and production jobs
  • Monitor purchase orders and shipments to ensure high levels of on-time delivery
  • Expedite orders as needed to meet on-time order requirement and production scheduling
  • Resolve supplier related problems related to delivery, quality and pricing
  • Forecast levels of demand, create suggestions, and optimal order points
  • Request quality documentation, including certificates of conformance and test reporting
  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production, distribution capabilities, and supplier history
Required Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years experience in purchasing and manufacturing
  • Experience with Infor CSI (Syteline) or other ERP/MRP/Inventory Management system with many SKU s/Products
  • Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical skills with a focus on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure
  • Ability to multitask with accuracy in a high pace environment
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Preferred but not required: BS Degree in purchasing, supply chain management, or business administration
