FTS is seeking Valve Technicians for all levels, preferably with prior experience working on Automated Valves.

Job Summary

This job is demanding in terms of knowledge, skills, commitment, and all other job related qualifications. Urgency and pressure for prompt, accurate results are routine. It requires the handling of multiple tasks with many unexpected interruptions. Responsiveness and energy to work long hours and cover a wide scope without letting up on the pace is necessary. Training on specific equipment is offered but must be diligent in learning independently from time to time.

Experience & Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent
  • Technical/Trade School preferred
  • A minimum or 2 years in the valve repair industry
  • TWIC, OSHA Safety, Security Passport

Typical Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform repair receiving write-up process manually and electronically including:
    • Read, interpret, and respond accordingly to MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) information
    • Identify valves and accessories
    • Translate valve information from tag to write-up form and include any customer specific requests
    • Perform data entry in the electronic valve tracking system (GVT) including status updates and history searches
    • Perform visual inspections to identify items that are obviously nonrepairable based on criteria such as cycle time and physical characteristics
    • Initiate work ticket within the sales order system
    • Take digital pictures and electronically transfer into the ERP system network folder
  • Safely pretest valves
  • Safely disassemble and clean valves and parts per QCP and OEM specifications:
    • Mark parts correctly and maintain organization and segregation
    • Perform glass bead / steel shot blasting while understanding what can/cannot be blasted
    • Perform chemical solvent cleaning
    • Perform HF acid neutralizing
  • Evaluate parts and maintain material awareness including:
    • Perform inspection of parts and evaluate critical dimension requirements
    • Identify and utilize manufacturers nomenclature (i.E., literature including IOM, inspection criteria, part numbers, and model numbers)
    • Identify materials using approved PMI method, alloy analyzer, material markings, material standards, etc. Including report completion
    • Complete travelers including date, sign-off, status, etc.
    • Requisition parts and process from inventory once approved
    • Understand alloy inspection requirements, NDE, use of heat, etc ., based on OEM/customer, Codes & Standards, etc.
  • Safely assemble valves from repair order instructions, customer test-report/specification sheets, GCLA procedures, QSM/QCP manuals, and OEM IOM manuals; this includes performing the lapping process as applicable .
  • Qualified to safely operate the steam boiler for steam testing safety and safety relief valves
  • Qualified to use the Ventil and Hydroset lift assist devices
  • Safely test valves according to applicable Code test requirements while applying and utilizing manufacturer s manuals using compressed air, water, steam and nitrogen .
  • Tag, seal, and prepare products for shipping while maintaining pride in workmanship including priming and painting products while adhering to all safety rules including proper clean-up and paint waste disposal. Palletizing and protecting tags, flanges, and threaded areas during the painting process are important.
  • Safely perform preventative maintenance on vehicles, equipment, and tools such as trucks, compressors, tear down equipment, paint guns/equipment, test stands, pneumatic tools such as grinders/impacts, and forklift including accurate and timely completion of required documentation and reporting .
